Terms of use

Global Grid is free to use, with an optional paid Pro plan. These terms explain what you can expect, how Pro and its launch offer work, and how you can cancel.

Who we are

Global Grid (globalgrid.uk) is run by Adam Cowin, trading as Global Grid, 95 Salwarpe Road, Bromsgrove, B60 3HS, United Kingdom. To contact us about anything on the site, including your subscription, email GlobalGrid365@gmail.com.

Information, not advice

Everything on the site is general information. It is not financial, investment, trading or energy-buying advice. Prices are wholesale prices or market benchmarks, often published a day or more late, and are not the prices you pay at home or at the pump. Forecasts can change and correlations describe the past only.

Accuracy

The figures come from the organisations listed on the About page. They may be delayed, estimated, revised later or occasionally wrong, and the site may sometimes be unavailable. Where a figure is missing, the site shows "n/a" rather than guessing. Please check the original source before relying on a figure for anything important.

Accounts

A free account needs an email address that you control. There is no password: you sign in with a one-time link sent to that address, so keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in. One account is for one person. You can delete your account at any time in your account settings; that also cancels any subscription straight away, and you get an email confirming it. Accounts used to misuse the site, its emails or its API may be suspended.

Pro subscription

What you get. The Plans page lists what Pro includes today. Where a feature covers only some places, it says so (for example, the carbon forecasts are for Great Britain only). Anything marked "coming soon" is not part of what you pay for until it is released.

Price. Pro costs $4.99 a month in US dollars, or the price in pounds or euros shown on the Plans page before you pay. Any sales tax or VAT is added and shown at checkout, before you pay. Payments are taken by Stripe when you subscribe and then automatically each month until you cancel.

Launch offer. While the launch offer is open, a first subscription costs $1 a month for the first 3 months, then $4.99 a month (or the offer and full prices in pounds or euros shown on the Plans page). Cancel any time. The offer is for people who have not subscribed or paid before, is limited in number and closes on the date shown on the Plans page. It is a discount on your first three monthly payments, not a free trial. About 7 days before the offer ends, we email you the new price, the date it starts and how to cancel. The first full-price payment shows on your card statement with a note that the offer has ended.

Starting straight away, and your 14 days to cancel. UK law gives you 14 days to cancel a digital service. When you subscribe, you ask for Pro to start straight away and you acknowledge your right to cancel within 14 days. Global Grid goes further than the law requires: if you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, or within 14 days of your first full-price payment after the launch offer, and email us, that payment is refunded in full, and Pro ends when it is refunded. After that, payments already made are not refunded, except where the law says otherwise, for example if the service is faulty.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in two clicks: open your account on the Plans page, press Cancel subscription, then confirm on Stripe's page. There are no questions or offers to stop you. You can also cancel by emailing GlobalGrid365@gmail.com from the address on your account. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, no further payments are taken, and you get an email confirming the cancellation. Manage subscription (also in your account) opens Stripe's page to update your card or see invoices.

Reminders and price changes. As well as the email before the launch offer ends, you get a reminder every six months saying what Pro costs, when the next payment is due and how to cancel. If the price changes, you will be told by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe tries again over the following days or weeks and Pro keeps working meanwhile; please update your card in Manage subscription. If the payment is still not made after the last try, the subscription is cancelled, Pro ends and the account carries on as a free account.

If Pro changes or closes. Features may be improved or replaced over time. If a change takes away a large part of what you pay for, or Pro closes, you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of your current month.

Data downloads and the API

Pro downloads and your personal API key are for your own use, within the daily limit shown in your account. Keep your key secret and do not share or resell access to it. The figures belong to their sources and come with their own terms, which apply when you reuse them, for example: Ember and Our World in Data (CC BY 4.0, credit required); Elexon (contains BMRS data © Elexon Limited copyright and database right); NESO (its open data licence; the carbon forecast is CC BY 4.0); the US Energy Information Administration (public information); Global Energy Monitor (CC BY 4.0, credit required); Natural Earth (public domain). For commercial use of Global Grid's own figures, see Support Global Grid.

Data and API. You may use downloaded figures for personal or business purposes, with credit to the source named in each file. Do not share your API key, or resell or republish the API itself. We may limit or suspend keys that are abused. The data comes with no guarantee (see Accuracy above).

Using the site

You are welcome to link to any page and to share screenshots, with credit to "Global Grid (globalgrid.uk)". Please do not send automated requests to the site's pages more than once a minute (use the API instead), or try to disrupt or misuse the site.

Liability

The site is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be complete, accurate or always available. As far as the law allows, Global Grid is not responsible for any loss that comes from using the site or relying on its figures, and its total responsibility to a Pro subscriber is limited to the amount paid in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes and law

These terms may change; the date above shows the latest version, and subscribers will be told by email before a change that affects them takes effect. They are governed by the law of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
